CRAMPS IN SWIMMING

A cramp is a painful and dangerous condition during swimming because it can become very dangerous for your life, since it prevents you from swimming properly and increases the possibility of drowning!

In addition to untrained muscles, the main causes of cramping are the water temperature, your diet and a possible dehydration of the body.

Also, the position of the foot when swimming increases the stress on the calf muscles.

If you get a cramp while swimming, don't lose your cool.

Remember that it is temporary and lie on your back on the surface of the water with your arms outstretched for better buoyancy and control over your movements.

The first thing to do is stretch the cramping muscle. Lift the sole up at a 90 degree angle with the leg and even more.

Once you have balance in the water, bend the knee, bring the leg close to you and massage the muscle with your hand.

Then walk ashore without tiring the cramped leg as much as possible.

When you get out, find some ice, if you have one, and put it on the muscle.
